Upon the release of Edition 4 in 2011, RP 2350 was elevated to a ‘Standard’ to stress the importance of overfill prevention in the fuel supply chain. The standard (formerly referred to as a ‘Recommended Practice’) is now in its 5th edition. Keeping the precious liquid inside the pipeline or inside the tank is of utmost importance for safety and low environmental impact.ĪPI 2350 is the standard (of minimum requirements) for overfill prevention in atmospheric storage tanks. The American Petroleum Institute (API) is the recognised standards development organisation for every aspect of the hydrocarbon supply chain. The dominance of the US in hydrocarbon extraction, refining and transportation is supported by the existence of ample, efficient and safe hydrocarbon-storage facilities.
